I would like to announce Wired New York Webcam. I spent several hours last night trying to make it work, and it seems operational, in time for arrival of Queen Mary 2.
The webcam is working today, but I am not sure what will happen tomorrow, enjoy it while it's operational.
The picture, http://www.wirednewyork.com/webcam/wirednewyork.jpg is updated every 10 seconds, and, correspondingly, the Webcam page is reloaded every 10 seconds using Javascript.
If you experience any problems viewing the webcam, post it here.
Wow.
After a day of broadcasting, the following changes will improve the viewing experience in my opinion. I am increasing the size of the picture from 320x240 to 640x480, but reducing the refresh rate to 1 frame per minute.
Thanks Edward
I have created an animation from the output of the webcam, 12 frames taken 1 minute apart, but showing it in 12 seconds. It shows Queen Mary 2 leaving New York on a one-day trip. The file is in Macromedia Flash format.

Oy, I'm such a cruise junkie.
Vewy Vewy Cool
Hey, I thought it was updating every 10 seconds...
When I checked on the cam, it was updating only once each minute. No big deal, though. Still very cool.
Where it this area located at? Is this from your apartment?
Looking west towards Hudson river - over Hell's Kitchen - from Ninth Avenue and 50th Street. And yes, that's from my apartment.
