Description

What to expect: Initially constructed in 1985 as a residential apartment building, the 31-floor Kimberly Hotel has an ornate marble lobby decorated with antique light fixtures and Persian rugs. The hotel is close to Midtown businesses and within 6–9 blocks of many sights; its richly furnished suites draw a mix of families and business travelers as well as diplomats and performers.

Amenity highlights: Olica, the Kimberly’s modern French restaurant, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Its nightclub, Vue, offers cocktails, dinner, and late-night dancing. In addition to the 24-hour business center, guestrooms feature high-speed Internet access (fee), fax machines, and printers. The hotel owns all nine locations of the New York Health & Racquet Club (including two less than 2 blocks away), which guests may use at no extra charge.

Insider tip: Mid-July through mid-October, guests 17 and older may take a complimentary 3-hour cruise on the New York Health and Racquet Club’s yacht, which sails from the New York Skyport Marina through New York Harbor and the East River, offering views of the USS Intrepid and the Statue of Liberty. Reservations are strongly suggested and can be arranged at check-in.
