Default Upper West Side Near New Buildings

Hi everyone,

I am a student moving from overseas to study at Columbia. I was wondering if anyone could recommend any new or good buildings with doorman and facilities in upper west between 60th and 80th close to metro. I am looking for a studio and willing to pay $2,000+

Also is it standard to be asked to pay 1 years rent in advance? I can show documents which show that I have enough assets to cover rent for 2 years...

Many thanks..
