    Default West New York

    Hello,

I've never so much as been to New York, but next week I'm flying in to interview for a position in West New York. I'm curious about the area. Is it very urban, with mixed-use development? Is the public transit good?

If you've got anything at all to say about West New York, please do!

    Thanks in advance.

West New York is in New Jersey, are you sure that's where your heading?..

West New York NJ is a Dominican Community, in '98 they had a parade for Sammy Sosa to celebrate his homerun race with Mark McGuire.

That's right. West New York, New Jersey.

Interesting. I didn't realize it was Dominican community. Anything else I should know?

It's very densely populated and a pretty cool place it's nice and doesn't have much crime.

    incred:

    1) W. NY is very much a Hispanic city, as noted above

    2) If you are driving, I hope you can parallel park in tight spaces

    3) If I remember correctly, a bunch of NJ Transit buses roll through WNY

The waterfront is very Yuppie and expensive, and probably mostly white.

The interior sections are mostly Latino and very densely populated. The Latino neighborhoods are working to middle class and rather pleasant, and include Cubans, Dominicans and other immigrants.
