World Trade Center in SimCity 4

This information may be of interest to fellow World Trade Center enthusiasts who also play SimCity 4. rubik3, a member of the prominent SC4 fan site Simtropolis, is designing the trade center to be used as a landmark lot in the game (Maxis, the game's developer, did not include it in this version).

rubik3 intends for it to be a tribute to those lost on 9/11, as well as an homage to the World Trade Center and the engineering marvel that it was. He is putting a painstaking amount of effort into it, and I thought some of you as New Yorkers might want to take a look and offer advice on particular details as you see fit (either to him directly, or through me to pass on to him).

You can find out more about this undertaking as well as check its progress (images included) by visiting this thread. As I mention in it, I believe that it will become one of the most meaningful and popular additions ever created for a game.

A game never dies, only the players someday....I also think it's a good idea as it leaves a trace.....

Anyway, someday (again?) a movie will relate that bloody f... day of september 2001.

Rudy notwithstanding, I hope that will never happen. At least not for 50 or 60 years.

rubik3 has released the Twin Towers for SimCity 4 to much acclaim. In a few weeks, he will release the entire World Trade Center complex. To view the towers, you can register for free at either Simtropolis or the official SimCity 4 website, and look for the towers there.

The Twin Towers thread at Simtropolis is still going strong. As of today: (April 17) the rubik guy has completed designing both the Twin Towers and the Marriot Hotel for Simcity 4 and has now moved on to desgning the other four buildings plus the 'windswept plaza'. With something like 400 responses it's probably the hottest thread in Simtropolis.
