Allied Junction in Secaucus
If you've wondered about the huge concrete thing that's been going up by the Turnpike in the Meadowlands, here's the website:

Probably one of the ugliest projects in the tri-state area in the past twenty years:

Only in New Jersey. Just kidding.

Ummm...would it make me considerably less manly if I said "Eeew?"

The station is ready but the opening was delayed after 9/11 shut down the PATH. *Big as it is, experts felt that the station would have been overwhelmed by the thousands of former PATH riders that would be forced to use it as a transfer point to Manhattan.
It's going to be an important transit node, linking all the rail lines in NJ for the first time, but you have to wonder what they were thinking with that design. *It's even more hideous in person, if you've ever driven past it.

Postmodernism gone terribly, horribly wrong.
BTW, what are the buildings going to be used for? *I love the fact that the rendering shows them in the middle of a brownfield, with a giant railyard right behind them.

Will the station be altered when the towers are built? It doesn't look similar... although I guess since the towers aren't there and I can't see the sides...
Does it have as many windows in the sides as the renderings show?

How miserable. Looks like a french suburb...

The windows are the same as in the rendering; looks like they decided to shorten one of the wings, though.
It's being developed as a public/private partnership -- the office/hotel complex is supposed to eventually pay for the transit complex.

Just kidding, Jude ;)

It's on the Turnpike for gods sake, it's fine. It's no Grand Central terminal, but it's not that bad for the middle of a swamp. Okay, now I'm going to have to take a look at this thing in person.
Definitely looking forward for it to open though - more transit options.

I'd prefer swamp actually. Funny to see that the "artist's view" shows a dull, beige landscape while it's all green and quite nice-looking on a photograph which doesn't lie. Maybe just to make that things look better by comparison to what is supposed to surround.
Sorry to sound so negative. Just using my right to free speech...

The photograph that the rendering was based upon was obviously taken during winter. *Also, this thing was on the boards forever, so I probably wouldn't be wrong if I guessed the photo was close to 10 years old.

It looks like it was designed by Stevie Wonder.
And why does the web site have a picture of the London Underground?
