Basketball in Central Park

Hi there. We're 5 friends from norway visiting NY this summer. I was wondering if its possible to play basketball in Central Park without renting a court or be registrated with a team ect. Just play for fun and bring our own ball. Or maybe join other "just for fun" players in the park. If there are any! :)

There's plenty of BBall courts in Central Park. I noticed a lot more in Central Park North.

Best place to play basketball in New York, along with some of the town's best players: 6th Avenue between West 3rd and 4th Streets. After the game, walk east on 3rd Street and unwind with a game of chess in Washington Square Park.

Those games on West 3rd are exciting to watch, though Central Park has more courts and they are bigger and better.
