Alternative/Indie music??

Hello everyone,i'm visiting New York for the very first time on February 14th for five days,can anyone tell me any bars whatsoever (around Times square especially)that play indie type music?I'm thinking Kaiser chiefs,The Cribs,Strokes,My Chemical romance,Raveonettes etc.Not too bothered about night clubs just bars.
Also,is CBGB'S still open for business,and how do I get there from Times square?

I don't think there's too many clubs near Times Square, but on the 14th I know Cat Power is playing a show at Town Hall, which is at 43rd Street.They're probably worth seeing. You can take the F train to 2nd Ave to get to CBGB's, but it's really nothing to talk about.

I wouldn't bother with CBGB. Their bands aren't too great.
