Can anyone tell me the species of trees that line the streets in Greenwich Village?
(Just welcome greenery as far as I'm concerned - but someone asked me & I couuldn't answer)

I think that the most common species is the London plane. It's possible that there are some American elms; there are also a couple of immensely huge English elms in Washington Square.

Along with the ones mentioned above there are many flowering pears (they get the little white flowers in the spring).
Gingkos are fairly common.
