HI
I hope someone can help me with my problem.Iīm going to visit new york around new year and I found a place to stay but I donīt know how secure the area of that place is. It is located at E.118th st / 1st Ave. Do you know this quarter? Can you tell me something about it?
thanks

Hmmm...it's not the BEST area, but it's definitely a lot better than it was in the past. If you might feel uncomfortable staying there, then don't and look for another place.

At the risk of sounding politically incorrect and getting flamed by other forum members....This is not the best area.

It depends on what you're doing, really.
If you're there for a few nights and save the money for cab fare, it's a great deal, really. It's certainly not the most tourist-friendly neighborhood, but you'll pocket quite a bit of cash if you stay there and just hail taxis.
You certainly won't be shot on sight, in any matter.

And you'll be near some of the best pizza in the city, Patsy's.

I'm very curious where you're staying! I's this 118th in Manhattan? this would be Spanish Harlem, i don't see any hotels in this area!
Tell us more!

You might get shot if you choose to insult an Off-Broadway actress/singer at Rao's.
