Just curious.....mine are:
1. Bear Stearns (I just love this building)
2. Bloomberg Tower (not fully complete but oh well)
3. Trump World Tower (Height on the river!)
4. Time Warner Center (Very nice)
5. Westin New York Hotel (Strikingly different)

My top 5 will be like this:
1. Time Warner (new King and Queen of the skyline) (well dont ask me which is which.. hehe)
2. Bloomberg Tower (An eternal flame on the skyline)
3. Conde Nast (It shines with modern and new)
4. Trump World Tower (Beautiful tall black tower)
5. Trump 220 Riverside Boulevard (the one with the blue top) (Just simple and beautiful... but is next to the worst one, the 'tall twin' 200 trump)

Mine:
1. The new 7 World Trade Center. First new WTC building, and although it's boxy, it is meant to be a supportive building relative to the FT and the others. I love its blue-crystaline facade!
2. Time Warner. I'm glad that NYC has some form of Twin Towers again.
3. Conde Nast. I like its base that shows the Nasdaq offices, and it's spire makes the building look like art deco of the dot com-era.
4. Bear Sterns. I like its crown, and we need more octagon buildings.
5. New MoMa. MoMa is back and better than ever!
...Why are you guys including the new Trump Tower? That 2001 building is a blemish on the Midtown skyline, and it looks like one of those censoring bars being placed over the Chrysler Building.

Some nominations for lesser known works:
-Random house tower: Not a masterpiece, but really looks pleasant. Sometimes looking good is better than being a work of art
-Hearst tower: This is a no-brainer
-Times Sq Tower: Green is a vastly under-utitlzed facade color
-Bloomburg: a nice touch, more mass would have been nice, but it's a smooth little addition that sorts fills a bit of a hole in the skyline (looking towards 59st)
-The Oceana: Besides the stellar affect it has had on southern Brooklyn, it also adds a wonderful touch of Miami Beach to the community. This had the potential to be really cheap and destructive in terms of architecture, but they didn't drop the ball.

:) Favorites (not in any particular order):
Conde Nast - loving it even more now with the the cool LED sign on the top. Also love the big antenna.
Reuters - Love the colorful signs and the unique, non-boxy shape. Wished it was taller though.
Bloomberg - The colors are simply beautiful. The boxy shape does detract a bit though.
Time Warner - clean, modern look. Two hundred more feet wouldn't hurt either. Would've loved the original design by Moshe Safdie. That design reminds me so much of Bank of China in HK. Damn Municipal Arts Society.
Gwathmey Siegal's Astor Place - just like TWC above, clean and shiny. Gives the neighborhood some much needed contrast. It's nice to see someone who dares to be different in NY when it's easy to just create something conservative to try to blend in.
:( Disappointments (again, not in any order):
Bear Stearns - nothing exciting, base is nondescript. Only redeeming quality is the hexagon shape and the lit crown. Makes me sad to think that NY could've had the beautiful and tall Travelsted Tower on that site.
7WTC - complete letdown, the rendering was better than the real thing. If you're going to build a box this day and age, at least give the skin some kind of pattern to give it some character.
Times Square Tower - what a disappointment, you would think the location would've made them come up with something more spectacular. Only thing I like is the zig-zag patterns on the side facing One Times Square.
Downtown Ritz-Carlton - snooze, nothing ritzy here.
Let's look into my crystal ball to see who'll be the likely winners and losers in the near future ;) :
Thumbs up: Hearst Tower, NY Times Building, BofA Tower, Frank Gehry's Beekman Tower (no rendering? That's OK, I have faith in him), 80 South Street by Calatrava, Harlem Park by Enrique Norton.
Thumbs down: Freedom Tower (this cast of characters ain't going to come up with anything good), Goldman Sachs (if it ever gets built).

My fave's:
1.) Meier's Charles and Perry Street Towers
2.) Gehry's InteractCorp
3.) Hearst Tower
4.) Trump World Tower
5.) Westin Hotel
Honorable Mention: Bloomberg Tower which would be in my top five if not for its wasteful and frivolous central courtyard.

I agree. I don't hate the building though, but the roof I don't care for.

Okay, why not:
1) Conde Nast
2) Bloomberg
3) 90 West St. (Cass Gilbert is my favorite contemporary architect :-)
4) 425 Fifth Avenue - Haven't seen anyone else mention it, and although it's a little clunky in spots I like its retro deco look.
Well, maybe only four. What's amazing is how many buildings since 2000 there are to choose from. Even more amazing is that there are at least four buildings under construction now that I would expect to be on this list in a couple of years - NY Times, Bank of America, Calatrava's PATH station and Hearst. It's a historic time.
P.S. Also need to add my no vote to the AOL "Dallas" Time Warner building. At least the Death Star looked cool.

Guys explain to me the Westin Hotel.
I like most of the buildings I see listed here, although some I havenīt had a chance to see yet in person. I especially like the Perry Street towers ... although less so now that three is a crowd. I wish more new buildings had a skin as luxurious looking as the the Trump World Tower. The one building I donīt understand however is the Westin Hotel. The fantasical design looks like itīs been realized in such flimsy way... like something with a low shelf life for an amusment park. They should have gone further with it... a little more depth and quality. Maybe it would work for the boardwalk in Atlantic City ...but New York? Iīm interested to hear why you all like it. Am I missing something?

to be honest i dont know, theres just something about it that i love. i like the way the curve cuts through the building transforming the top into a sharp crisp set of angles. the facade is gorgeous, its different in all weather, the deep use of colour is great and the 'scratched' lines over the facade add that modern random look that i love so much.
hows that?
