Brooklyn Eagle -

For example, what community do you think has the highest median income? If you said Brooklyn Heights, as most people will, you’re wrong. The leader is Manhattan Beach at $70,600. The Heights is second at $69,200. For perspective, the U. S. average is $43,318, and 18 Brooklyn communities exceed that figure. The following communities make up the top 10 in that category (in order): Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Mill Basin, Marine Park, Gerritsen Beach, Columbia Street, and Boerum Hill. The community with the lowest figure was Red Hook at $16,400: by the time of the 2010 census it certainly will no longer be last.

I don't think I would have guessed Brooklyn Heights. Maybe a toss up between Manhattan Beach and Mill Basin - lots of detached homes. I'm a little surprised Gerritsen Beach is so high, but boats are expensive.

Shouldn't Park Slope be on the list? Gerritsen Beach surprised me a lot too.

The numbers for places like Brooklyn Heights and Park Slope are probably skewed because of the high number of studio apartments.

I no longer know where the official Park Slope is. The boundary keeps moving further down the slope.
