city life books??

hey guys, i just saw the little sections on books about the city, but i was wondering if you guys know of any decent books on basically living life in the city. i know it kind of a broad subject, im just enchanted by the city and really want a book that deals with pretty much just the daily life of a new yorker.

This one coffee-table book, New York At Night, is pretty cool. The title says all. Unfortunately, it's slightly dated (1985), but it gives an excellent insight into the nocturnal City. Excellent period photos, including a couple of the inside of Studio 54, and sublime skyline shots. (If only I could find my copy, though...)
