Accident on #4 3/8/05

A small item in todays Daily News mentions that a contractor drilling south of Bowling Green drilled into the roof of the #4 tunnel. Does anyone have any details?

Nope, but you can figure it is either an accident by the S.I. Ferry construction team (most likely) or the Battery Park Bosque construction team (way less likely).

I have been able to answer my own question-it is the MTA's own contractor.

The South Ferry subway work has started. The underpining contractor is working in the park at Pearl st.

How come a major public groundbreaking didn't take place?

The subway station construction had begun some time ago, but wasn't noticed, since the plaza was being rebuilt (and used for construction staging) as part of the ferry terminal project.
