NY's Tax Burden

I have a question:

How much in Taxes is coming out of my paycheck when I live in NYC or NYS? I mean, I figured up to 40-50% might come out in the city, is that accurate?

Depends on your income bracket. I think someone making $40K a year would expect about 20% in federal, 7% in NY state, and maybe 5% in city?

That's not bad at all. Why is everyone bitching about NY's tax rate? I mean, eventually, Florida and Texas will have to rasie theirs to pay for more stuff too. I was expecting about 40% gone. Yours comes out to about 32%
