NYC seems to grow and contract in waves. The 1860's-1940 was probably the biggest single era that made NYC what it is today. Between the development of the outer boroughs, subways, first skyscrapers, Midtown, and utitlites still in use today, NYC grew to be a huge megopolis. the 1950 and 60's saw a boom in Office development and housing and the 1980's saw the condo craze and the beginnings of gentrifcation. Today, there seems to be more cranes than ever towering over the city, would you say that NYC is in or entering another great building phase? Anything in comapison to the massive exapnsion undertaken in the late 1800's to early 1900's? Is NYC about to take another level? Will NYC ever see mass growth and expansion as seen in the golden years again?
