A City Wikipedia

I'm planning to start a website that is a wikipedia of cities--a large database of information, writings and photos that anyone can contribute to. Imagine how cool it would be if there was a website that had 100,000+ photos of cities all over the world. You could click on any city and pull up street photos, skyscraper photos, aerial photos, and just about anything else. You could browse by neighborhood or by subject area. You could get a ton of information on any aspect of the city, on business and the economy, on its history, on housing, on demographics, on travel, on food, on nightlife. Cities could have blogs from people living in those cities to see the perspective of someone who lives in the city.

I'm looking for people that would be interested in contributing, whether with photos of cities, editing (the wikipedia will need editors), writers, designing the website, or anything else. Anyone who is interested write me back in this thread or email me at smedlock@gmail.com.

You can view the progress of the project there which I will be continually updating. If anyone has any interest in contributing photos, writings, blogs, or information about any city or subject, let me know. You can write it here in this thread and I'll put your name down and things you might contribute to. I hope to get the site up in a couple of months, and when that happens I'll contact all of the people I have written down.
