Anyone have great blackout stories from last year? From the sixties?

August 14, 2003:
A bunch of us took a river cruise from Manhattan to Cold Spring, NY. It is about 50 miles north of NYC on the east shore of the Hudson River. We arrived about 1:45pm. I decided to take the 2:00pm train back to NYC. My friends wanted to linger a bit longer. They said they would take the 3:00pm train. So I got home by 4:00pm and was safe with my family when power failed at 4:10pm. My friends' train "died" near Yankee Stadium on the Harlem River. (It was a diesel train and it could have continued under its own power, but the signals were knocked out.) They sat there for three hours, hoping power would be restored. Finally they left the train and walked back to Queens, via the Triborough Bridge. They got home at 1:00am the next morning.
One person in our group had taken a room at a small inn at Cold Spring. He checked in about 4:00pm, before the power failed. He decided to take a shower. Each floor of the inn had one shared shower room at the end of the hall. There were no guests visible, so my friend thought it would be funny if he ran to the shower room naked. He dashes down the hall and arrives at the shower room door, only to find it locked. You needed your room key to open it. He runs back to his room and finds his room door locked by itself. At that exact moment, the power fails and the lights go out. There were no emergency lights in the hall........
