How many points can a driver get before his license is suspended in New York? I haven't recieved any but I'm curious. And although I live in Manhattan I keep my vehicle's license and registration listed with another state where I also have a residence. So if I were to 'block the box' or something is there anything the police could do to me besides issuing me a ticket? Thanks.

Your licence will be suspended if you receive 11 or more points in an 18 month period. It will also be suspened with three speeding violations within 18 months, regardless of the point total.
If you block the box, you will only get a ticket, unless you say something stupid like, "Is that powdered sugar on your uniform?" Blocking the box is a special terror in Manhattan. Do you inch into the intersection, hoping you won't get stuck? Or stay put and incur the wrath of the cabbie behind you?
Of course the answer is, don't drive in Manhattan. This past weekend we were near Radio City at 7:30PM. You can imagine. Filter out the buses, cabs, trucks, etc - everyone else driving were idiots.
