For those interested, this month on www.nycjpg.com we are featuring architectural terra cotta in NYC, with our main reference being Susan Tunic's book "Terra-Cotta Skyline".
Landmarks like the Woolworth and Flatiron buildings are entirely clad in this wonder material, and a great proportion of what one might take for carved stone ornament is in fact baked clay.
The series focuses on downtown (below 14th St.). *It runs for the month of July. *The first page is here:
