Hi Everyone, I am planning on coming to NYC from Australia for a holiday.
I'm a 37 year old female and while I would love to stay in Manhattan for the whole time I think it will be to expensive. I have happy to take the underground to get into the City. What places are the best and safest to stay in on the Underground lines?
Thanks
Kat

How long will your stay be?
There are a few places in Manhattan where you can stay cheaply, such as the Chelsea Lodge.
Staying in an outer borough is kind of a drag. All that subway commuting will get old.

I'll be visiting next weekend and staying with friends for a couple of nights, but my lady and I would like to spend one night on our own in Manhattan -- you understand... We don't have a lot of money to throw around. The Chelsea Lodge looks promising as a reasonable and cheap place to stay. Could anyone offer any other suggestions?

The Milford Plaza (http://www.milfordplaza.com/) is reasonable and close to Times Square (theatres, dining, subway, etc)
I've stayed there several times and found it to be clean and well run.

I've stayed at Carlton Arms hotel and I liked it. Not expensive: about $80-110 per night.
The hotel doesn't offer you room service but if you want to go to NYC and just have a place to spend the night, the hotel's excellent.
And it's close to 23rd subway station (a three minutes walk from the hotel) and near it's located the New York Burger (very good :) )!
