Hey everybody I need some assistance. I just finished college and I' am looking to get a job with an architectual/urban planning firm that would be looking for an enthusiastic college grad with a BA in Urban Studies. I' am really ambitious and willing to do whatever it takes to work my way up. If anybody has any leads or information on firms that are looking or hiring I would really appreciate it. PM me if anything.

Try the New York City Housing Authority, the New York City Economic Development Corporation, and the Port Authority. They won't pay the most but since their public or quasi-public they offer many benefits and its a great place to start a career (especially in this economy) and go elsewhere. Does your school offer any job placement? Many people are unaware of what their school offer, my school has online listings for some pretty great jobs, I got my current job that way, I saw one the other day starting at 1k a week.

I would agree with Beer here.... ;)

There is not much available in Architecture or Engineering now on an entry level.

The only other thnig I would be looking for would be Intern position. If you want to start at free->crappy pay, there is PLENTY of BS work that is piling up after the first round of layoffs at a lot of these firms.

Also lok for volunteer work with things like Housing for Humanity (or is that Houses...). Sometimes experience like that matters more than a degree (but, keep in mind, is still practically worthless without one).

GL!
