As I am out of the country can anyone recommend the best place to file my taxes online?

Do you mean for the U.S.?

Go to the IRS website here (http://irs.gov/app/freeFile/jsp/index.jsp) and they have a whole list to choose from. Most of them are even free if you make less than a certain amount.

Yes the U.S. I am filing for earnings at my internship last year.

Another problem has arisen. Chase have decided to close my bank account in the US so I have nowhere for my refund to go. Any ideas? There must be a system in place for immigrants to receive refunds after they have left the country.

Did mine on H&R Block's "Tax Cut" online last night... Simple, simple, simple and if your gross income was $56,000 or less and were 50 years or younger on 12/31/2008 your federal efile is free! It's $29.95 for them to file the NYS return for you.

Like I said It's really easy, just guides you through it... Took me like 20 minutes to file the federal return. I will warn you that starting this year if you file your federal return online, you don't print and mail a form like previous years. You must sign electronically by using the pin you created last year (that I totally forgot lol) or by putting down your adjusted gross income from last year. On that page you must choose the 5 digit pin you will use next year to sign the return, I was smart enough to clip that to my copy of the taxes so I'll have it for next year. :D

Edit:Alonzo-NY, have you thought about opening up a bank account online with something like Bank of America? I've opened a free checking account up with Bank of America and have never been to a branch yet I really have no reason to as I do all of my banking online... I just funded it with another account (you can even do so with a debit/credit card while opening the account, it gives you the option, or you can transfer money to your account with Western union)...

I don't know what their policy is about people in other countries opening an account though.

Need to be a citizen for that. I figured it out anyway. I just need to file on paper and they send a cheque to the UK.

That sucks, I didn't know you needed to be a citizen. Glad you got it figured out.
