YO!
So I was thinking it may be cool (or maybe this will just completely crash and burn) to share like, what your personal fashion style is. What type of clothing do you wear? Where do you shop? What kinds of clothes do you hate? Etc...
If it's stupid lemme know... but here's mine:
When I first moved to Des Moines, IA in August of '08, it was all about the T-shirts and sweatpants, almost everyday! Now since I own at least 1 pair of jeans, I'm constantly layering my clothes and thinking more about what I put on in the morning.
Now, I like to think of my style as "downtown" and "hip." Just my opinion of course... I shop at stores like American Eagle, Aeropostale, Fossil, Pac Sun, Expressmen, and found 3 awesome buys tonight at my new favorite store ... Heritage 1981 (http://www.forever21.com/heritage1981/main.asp).
Im also a HUUUGE scarf guy and will buy just about any scarf I come in contact with, so I have to be careful. In my opinion, you can wear a scarf with anything! Haha!!
Lemme know what you think about this thread idea! Thanks!

Maybe all of this stuff is made by 8 year olds in sweat shops and we're all going to hell when we die, but besides that question... it is now so much easier to buy nice men's clothing.
Lot's of nice inexpensive things out there. Buying clothes was a once a chore: it was hard to find nice simple basic stuff. Store choices for men, even in Manhattan, was once very limited: Barney's, Bloomingdales and the other department stores. Brooks Brothers. The Gap started out as a jeans place. Everything else was boutiquey or high priced traditional business men's "clothiers" with English decor.
So you went to Canal Jeans... places like that. It was just all pretty awful.
Another nice development: Since the mid 1990's mens clothing has been kind of in a holding pattern. Proportions are sensible. Sober colors. Things don't look ridiculously out of date so soon.

Umm wow. I wouldn't know what style I fall into, but I love Express, H&M (kinda), and Old Navy for their jeans. I wear casual boots from DSW. Currently looking for a good spot for a leather (or not) jacket

Very good prices at Wilson's outlets, if they're still in business.

They still have quite a few Wilson's outlets around. They always seem to have amazing deals online - so if you know your size, I'd probably shop that way.

Thanks for the tip guys/gals. I'll deffinitly take a look into that this weekend, being that my non-recession proof wallet allows that.

I made the mistake of buying a few things from them.
You really have to look at what they are clearancing, everything else is just really cheap leather. One coat I have seems to be OK, but I do not wear it often, and a briefcase/sachel only lasted me 4 months before the metal clasps for the strap bent AND wore down (it was a ball/eye hole kind of attacment, the ball was cheap soft metal that wor down and the socket bent out of shape). The leather on it also wore down pretty fast.
I know they are (for the most pat) OOB, but still, be careful what you buy there.

I never bought a bag there. The trick to keeping leather in shape is to mink oil it once a year.

That's great if it lasts longer than a year!!!! ;)
The other difficult thing is when yuo get a "soft" leather coat or something similar. The areas around the zippers or where you sling your bag gets worn really quickly.
So the very jacket my wife bought she told me to stop wearing so often because I was wearing it out!!! ;) (Not from Wilson's BTW...)

It's also a matter of recognizing which areas of a garment wear out quickly and creating habits that do not provide wear and tear on said areas. It's kind of complicated but it becomes second nature.
