I don't start a lot of threads. And those that I do start, are mostly things like, "Betty James, Who Named the Slinky Toy, Is Dead" or "Man calls 911 after Subway left sauce off sandwich", ...but I do have one wiener... uh, I mean ...winner:

"Gene Kaufman...kough...kough, hack....hack..."

34,424 friggin' hits with 412 replies.

Best New York Pizza (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2911) has 88,111. That was one of those threads that was there prior to the famous server meltdown of 2002 and restarted, though I think I started the original one too.

Streets that Bend – Before there was a grid (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2982) has 17,483.

I need to suck it up and buy a new camera already, my posting average has surely dropped since I haven't posted one of my photos in a while.

Well, for someone who doesn't start threads very often or post all that much, especially compared to all you big gun forum vets, I guess these aren't too bad, and are quite useful:

New York City Websites (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2986) ...53 replies, 19,860 hits

New York City Books (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2932) ...57 replies, 8,984 hits

And then there was this one:

Centurion by I. M. Pei (33 West 56th Street) (http://www.wirednewyork.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14225) ...74 replies, 13,082 hits

I see that the thread, "Prostitution in Hunt's Point" is in the top ten.

I guess there are a lot of Google searches going on using those exact words.

It's great that WiredNY can be of help.

I think the most popular one that I originated is "Upper West Side Story" in the NY for Visitors section.

...13,240 hits and 82 entries...

I began it five years ago, BEFORE I had any real knowledge of the UWS. Since then, I have stayed in that part of the City 3-4 times and have come to know the neighborhood quite well.

I've stayed at The Belleclaire and The Beacon, I eat ( well ) at the Manhattan Diner, Gray's Papaya and a few other places on Amsterdam, drank many a beer at the now-defunct Bear Bar next to the Beacon Theatre and at the Boat Basin; I've walked most of the streets looking at the architecture, visited a lot of the museums in the area and in general have come to regard the West Side as my favorite part of Manhattan and an excellent jumping off point for my metropolitan forays-- after, of course, my old stomping grounds in The Village.
I constantly recommend the area to friends who are going to visit NYC.

It seems to have turned into a general post about the UWS.

I still don't know where Seinfeld parks his Porsches, though.
