Hey all,

just logged in for the hell of it and thought I'd start a thread. what's your favorite place to eat in Manhattan?

I've got a couple, depending what I'm in the mood for and how much I feel like spending.

first up is Olive Tree Cafe on W.3rd and MacDougal in the Village. best. wings. ever. I honestly go there specifically for the wings, and I've made the schlep in from Brooklyn just to go to Olive Tree. not really expensive for Manhattan ('bout 11 bucks for a dozen wings, seems about average)....if you haven't been I REALLY suggest you go just for the wings.

next is Mamoun's Falafel, which is also on W.3rd and MacDougal (right next to Olive Tree, actually)....I know there's another Mamoun's on St. Mark's somewhere, never been to the east side Mamoun's though. 5 bucks for a sandwich, highly recommend.

finally, i've gotta go with Cafe Habana on the corner of Prince and Elizebeth in SoHo. great food, although i can't eat anything other than the corn without getting sick. not because it's bad, it's not. all the stuff those crazy Cubanos mix together in their Cuban Sandwich just doesn't agree with me. I just go for the Mexican corn, grilled with some kind of weird Spanish cheese and chili powder. great stuff. 2 ears of corn come out to about 3 bucks, also highly recommended

so, what's your favorite? I'm always looking for good grub in the city, so I'm curious as to what the rest of you guys enjoy.

yeah man, it was $4.50 earlier this year. i walked in one day and saw they raised it to 5 bucks. that's still not bad for Manhattan. I've paid more for horrible food (i.e Hard Rock, 17 bucks for the worst burger I've ever had in my life) so I'm willing to spend 5 bucks on a good sandwich.

Paul's on 2nd Ave just south of St. Marks has pretty good burgers.

I'm just now checking in here again, and it's funny you say that. My buddy made me stand in line with him at the Shake Shack in Madison Square Park yesterday for an HOUR, just so he could get a burger and a dog.

After standing in line that long, I absolutely had to order something just to see if it was worth the wait. I'll just say this - the cheese fries are amazing, totally worth it. I'm gonna have to go back and try the burgers, but i'll definitely have to point out Paul's to him and try that place for a burger.

I was just on St. Marks last night, too. I wish I had known about this reply earlier.

Shake shack has a live web cam on their website, so you can see how long the line is before you head out ;)

You suffered through the shack's line and didn't get a burger?!?

Man, you're doing this all wrong :)

Another awesome eat would be the Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien

i ordered wings from the olive tree, and my friend ordered a burger, he was finished with his burger by the time my wings came out, and they were not that good. perhaps i just got a bad batch.

i liked shake shack, but honestly my favorite burger around is five guys, even though it's a chain, i still think it's dang delicious.

i'm growing quite fond of crif dogs, the chihuaua, and the good morning, they have awesome chilli cheese fries.

does anyone know of a good socal style carne asada burrito around?

Five Guys is decent, but for the price of a double with Bacon, you can start going to a full "restaurant" type place and, depending no where you go, geta better burger.

I am nt in ANY way saying they are bad, but +$7 for a "fast food" kind of burger joint (I think it is $7.75 for a double bacon cheese in Hoboken, only American Cheese available)....

There is a pretty good little Indian place (steam tray served) over at 46th between Lex and 3rd called Joy. Their prices went up a bit, but they have some tasty selections there. My fav is Chicken Karahi...
