My sister is coming to visit me this Thursday. I work from 3-11:00 and she gets in at 4:00. I am trying to find some things for her to do while I am at work. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If she's familiar with town, what about giving her a list of stores and she can go look at the windows? I always think the windows look better at night. :)

Great idea ^ If she's a walker have her start at Macy's then move across 34th to Fifth and up past Lord & Taylors -- over to Bryant Park, watch some skaters on the ice and then back up Fifth past Saks & Rock Center (up to Top of the Rock?) and then continue up Fifth to the Apple Cube at 59th -- where she can buy you a present! Stop for a snort somewhere along the way.

Or maybe a Broadway show -- have her head over to TKTS at ~ 6:30 - 7 PM and see what's available that night. Suggestion: go see "Gypsy" or "August, Osage County", both of which get out right around 11PM.

Or have her grab a stool at a local saloon -- After you get off work you can scoop her up, pour her in a cab, get her home and tuck her in.

Ooops: No shows on Broadway this Thursday / Thanksgiving evening, so scratch that.

Yes she is familiar, that is a good idea. She said she wouldn't mind walking around uptown for a while.

Millions Celebrate The Holiday At Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

The 82nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade made its annual trek downtown to 34th Street.

Millions lined the parade route to get a look at the balloons, star-studded floats, and marching bands.

This year's parade featured old favorites like Kermit the Frog and the Energizer Bunny, and some new additions – Buzz Lightyear, Horton of Dr. Seuss fame, and a giant blue Smurf.

Everyone said they had a great time.

"It's amazing," said one parade-goer. "We will be here every year in the future. It's the best experience ever."

"Everybody is in a good mood, everybody is ready for the holidays," said another.

"We love it, love it," said a third. "I watch it on television every year. This is my first year in person; we're loving it."

"It's just wonderful. I can't explain it, it's just so great," said yet another parade-goer. "

In all, there were 13 giant balloons and 31 smaller balloons in this year's parade.

New Yorkers Donate Their Time This Thanksgiving

http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/1190/47776808ww1.jpg

This Thanksgiving, some New Yorkers are donating their time to others.
City Comptroller William Thompson helped prepare holiday meals for God's Love We Deliver. The company prepares and delivers meals to those who cannot leave their homes.

Thompson and other volunteers say today is about helping others.

"On a day of Thanksgiving, realizing, I have a lot, and so many others have a lot, but there are so many who don't, and trying to share with them in the best way you can," said the comptroller.

"It's just something that you need to do; I think we should all do, give back a little bit," said volunteer Eric Krevateric. "It's very important that we give thanks for what we have because a lot of people can't go out, they're sick, they're at home."

God's Love We Deliver will deliver 2,500 meals all over the five boroughs and to parts of New Jersey.
