Places to eat!

Hey all,

Just thought I'd throw it out there. What are your favorite places to eat near 54th and 3rd? $$$? Genre?

And more importantly, has anyone ever heard of, or seen a bindi dessert called "the exotic bomba" (I will travel any distance for this)!

I think of "over there" as expense account restaurants. Tse Yang, on 51st near Madison ($$$ Chinese), is my favorite.

We are going to Le Colonial ($$) in the next few weeks, I have heard good things, and I will send back a report.

Also, if you will walk all the way down to 40th, Phoenix Garden ($) has some of the best Cantonese food in the city, including Salt and Pepper shrimp.

There are a few indian places down that way as well (46th or so between 2nd and 3rd). I would go for a walk down 2nd avenue (not 3rd) if I were looking for food up there. Plenty of nice looking spots that I have not visited yet.....(but have walked by...)

I found a joint called "portafino's pizza and pasta" on 57th and 2nd i believe. I saw they had a dessert freezer with a huge "bindi" sign on it. So i spoke to the manager and he's going to order a case of "exotic bombas". If you're in the area, try one out.

it's mango, raspberry, and passion fruit sorbet covered in white chocolate.
