Many recommend taking the Staten Island ferry to see the Statue of Liberty and the city from the water. But when i was looking at Google Maps i found another ferry that seems to go right around the statue - the Jersey City ferry. I've never heard anything about this, is there some big drawback i've missed, or is it that it doesn't provide as good a view of the city?

The ferries on Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=sv&geocode=&q=new+york&ie=UTF8&ll=40.694371,-74.033947&spn=0.035402,0.109863&z=14&iwloc=addr)

Also, any tips about events or things to do in New York October 15-29?

Edit: I think i misposted this, i guess it should have been in Questions & Answers, sorry.

The Jersey City one can't be very expensive though, if it's for regular commuters right?

I believe it costs $14.00 roundtrip

That wasn't cheap :(
I would imagine the Staten Island ferry gives a nice view of Brooklyn etc. though.

You will not see much of Brooklyn from the Ferry, but you will get plenty of spectacular views.

From Liberty State Park, it's a Circle Line Ferry, not commuter ferry. Liberty State Park is absolutely beautiful and has great views of the statue, Manhattan, Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn, Harbor, Jersey City.

If you want ferry views of Brooklyn for free, try the Ikea ferry. Runs from Wall Street Pier 11 to Red Hook and back, and you don't actually have to buy anything at Ikea.
