Hi John.

This is the place that authorizes the naming.

Here is an article on the subject.

I don't know if there is a list of the dedications because they are all so personal and private.

This one caught my attention last year.

There's a rather heartbreaking bench near the Turtle Pond that reads something like, "For Mother and Father, who loved this place so much." I don't know why, but that gets me every time.

The Times article contains my all-time favorite, though:

--“I love you very much and look forward to marrying you ... but if we have a fight you can always sleep here,” are the words inscribed on the bench Leelee Brown Jaffe gave her husband as a wedding present.--

The makers of the film "Notting Hill" used almost the same words for a quotation regarding a bench in a private ( "Gramercy Park" type) park in London.

Haha, that is brilliant.

This is just the type of humour which I think makes the bench plaques timeless!!
