There are many other hotels in the city in much better condition. I would go against staying at The Hotel Pennsylvania.
Example: Pest Control (Actual Picture of a bedbug-infested mattress at the hotel)

(S)he can still come here. We're telling him/her to find a different hotel, so the reality will be more in line with the dream. Is that ok with you?

GermanNewYorkFan.
I am sure you will love New York City.
It is a problem if you book a package holiday and you do not know anything about the the hotel.
On my first visit in 2005 I was offered several packages and the prices were good, but after reading Trip Advisor reports I turned them all down because I did not like the hotels.
So I found an hotel, with good reports, in the area I wanted to stay,
and booked a separate flight with United. Result, I had a very good stay in NYC.
The key was reading Trip Advisor.

On the plus side Hotel Pennsylvania is busier than ever. It is a very large hotel and, I am sure a lot of the rooms must be OK. If you have to go there, be firm and tell them if you are not happy with the room allocated, and demand a better one.
Good Luck. (viel Gluck) sorry I don't have an umlaut on thiss keyboard.

German: Mach Dir keine Sorgen. Das Pennsylvania is ok. Ich habe oefters Besucher aus Deutschland die dort wohnen. Kein Problem, und sehr zentral. Roches gibt es auch im Walldorf Astoria.

GrussIch stimme.
There was a television news investigative story here in the America that looked into the widespread bedbugs infestation problem and they said that it can be found in every type of hotels, from low budget ones to the very high end expensive ones.

Because I like to stay in different neighborhoods, I book into a different hotel on almost every one of my fairly frequent visits to New York.
I've never once encountered bedbugs, though I know they exist; and since learning how to distinguish a good hotel from an overpriced fleabag, I've not run into a single cockroach either.
My advice echoes brianac's: read Tripadvisor. I'd also add: stay at the Hotel Beacon; I think brianac will approve this suggestion as well.
Pennsylvania Hotel is an overpriced fleabag. You will see roaches, and maybe bedbugs as well. You will see plenty of dirt, and you will be depressed by your surroundings. You can do much better at the price. Try also: the Cosmopolitan Hotel.

^^ ablarc, do you think we could get a discount from Hotel Beacon for all this praise we are giving them?
I got a quote from them for 7 nights next May. $2485.00 that's a lot for one person.
I paid about $150.00 per night in 2005.

Du tust diesem Forum keinen Dienst so voellig uebertriebene Kommentare zu posten. Ich wette Du hast noch nie in diesem Hotel gewohnt. Alles nachgeplappere.
