Hello,

My name is Kathryn and I am a third year Geography and Planning student from the University of Sheffield in England(www.sheffield.ac.uk) and am coming to New York between the 7th-14th April.

As part of my course I am going to be carrying out a research project about the experiences of parents with young children in New York City. I will especially be looking at the experiences of parents who attempt to get around the city using a push chair/ stroller.

As a parent of a 3 year old myself I have had hours of fun carrying my son up and down countless flights of stairs etc and I am really interested to find out if the streets of New York accommodate or exclude children and their parents.

I would really like to meet some New York parents who could give me their own perspective on this situation. Maybe if somebody has a baby group I could come and take up a short amount of your time?

I will also be trying to navigate around the city with a stroller on one of the days so even if you could give me an idea of where the best and worst places for strollers are this would be a great help.

Really hope somebody can help me! Thank you!!

I would love to help but I have a 3 year old who refuses to use a stroller since he was 2!!!!! Soooooo......the only thing I can tell you is how aggrevating it is to travel ANYWHERE in the city with a 3 year old that runs faster than me. LOL
Good Luck

Hi. Feel free to pm me, I'd be happy to chat. My daughter is now 11, but I well remember the constraints (my daughter as an infant would ONLY nap in a stroller, and she would wake up at the sound of bus lifts, etc.). For four years I didn't enter a store if it involved stairs (but this was just before delivery became so pervasive, as a research topic it might be great to compare 10 years ago to now, major change.)
