I have a modest business dealing in specialty fabrics for handbags and accessories. We just placed our first rep in New York, which is huge. My biggest concern is that we have a convincing presence there. Meanwhile, we’re a small company in LA, with one person in NY. This has worked before in smaller markets, but NY textile is so competitive. What are some good ways to have a virtual presence in a remote, potentially huge market?

You need to get a rolodex / virtual address book of ever possible client for your wares and start with emailing a concise intro letter and online catalalogue samples. Follow-up with phone calls to arrange meetings.
Companies that are creating products are always looking for new supllies and interesting products. Info email to potential clients will work, if done right.
