A collaborative exercise! I will get the ball rolling:

1. The Bank of America bldg will be completed and ready for occupancy - IMO, until the top is finished, the final verdict is still out on this building, but we'll have a much better idea in a few weeks.

Not much to look forward to. Specially knowing that there are some eyesore garages near there that are much more worthy of destruction.

Is there a 2009 version of this thread?

So far all I can think of looking forward to is the continuation of #'s 20 & 21 from 2008:

Opening of New Yankee Stadium
&
Opening of Citi Field

WTC won't start making real above-ground headway until 2010, and BoA and Goldman Sachs buildings are both turds - so who cares if they get completed next year?

I'm a bit more optimistic. I think that we'll see financing start flowing again b/c Obama is going to be the balls to the wall with stimulus which I think will eventually include govt buying CMBS - this should really start moving construction financing again.

I'm going to get the predictions for 2009 going...

1) The Tower Verre gets approved and after a few months of little news, the developer surprises with an announcement that construction will begin. Says that because of the length of construction, by the time the tower is completed, the real estate market would have recovered, thus timing it just right.

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Here are the prediction results for 2008...

37. Freedom Tower spire redesign

YES!

Its actually NOPE

The redesign already took place by the time I made the resquest (http://wirednewyork.com/~edward/forum/showpost.php?p=185220&postcount=4359), it didnt happen in 2008, it happened in 2007. I wanted a redesign of the redesign.

I was hoping it was more of a design commemorating, you know, the statue of liberty torch like it was supposed to.

Not a commemoration to an animated cartoons limb used for balance and thermal control:
http://www.canaltcm.com/myfiles/ap/ratatouille-foto2.jpg

Just wanted to clarify.
