View Full Version : Comfortable dress shoes?

So after 3 weeks in the city walking to work everyday, I have realized the importance of good-quality, comfortable dress shoes. Right now I'm wearing some standard Kenneth Cole shoes that actually don't feel too bad, but I need another pair (and my feet are starting to get sore at the end of the day). Any suggestions for comfortable dress shoes that look acceptable? Or, recs for insert, etc. that provide comfort/support/etc?

Also, anything I should know about regarding shoe care in order to maximize their life - other than keeping them clean and polished regularly?

Thanks,
Luke

I am extremely pro-Superfeet -- they don't take the place of professional arch supports, but they help some.

And I am on my feet a lot in my business!

I don't wear sneaker or boots unless I'm playing sports or there's snow outside. When I'm not wearing my gators, I wear dress-shoes made by Timberland, they hold up really well. You'll find a great selection of shoes at Century 21, I don't like the clothing selection there, but it's probably the best men's shoe selection in NYC. Aldo also has a nice selection of comfortable dress shoes. For years now I have also been putting drscholls heel supports in all my shoes, even if they're very comfortable, right after I buy shoes I go to CVS and buy the supports. My feet feel and look great.

Also as far as shoe care in addition to polishing them, I spray "kiwi protect all" on all new leather items I buy, while most leather products already come with water and stain protection, its an added precaution, my everyday shoes still look new after a year of wear.

Alfani have AMAZINGLY comfortable dress shoes. They are also cheap as well...the pairs I own are in line with Calvin Klein prices...$80 bucks and up. But they feel like tennis shoes when wearing them but defintely look dressy. Give 'em a try.

What about comfortable, stylish, realitively inexpensive women's shoes???

Yes Ecco are great - super comfy and wear well. I am also partial to Allen-Edmonds, if you require a more formal look...

Banana Republic makes some nice, solid dress shoes that last you a long time. They especially keep their form well over a long period of time.

I myself have a pair of Alfani and they are indeed a very comfortable pair of shoes. Also another favorite of mine is Rockport, those are pretty comfortable too.
