have been reading reviews of both places,and as an outsider which one would you ny'ers choose for a family wedding meal

Neither, they're both overrated. The crowds are rowdy; the music is too loud; the seating is almost "mess hall."

They both use lots of garlic. If you do decide on one, ask them in advance to tone down a bit on the garlic; otherwise, kissing and intimacy can be awkward.

thanks guys, somewhere to bring a group of around 15 people (kids included)for a nice meal,we're going over to get married ,and are looking for a nice family orientated and cosy restuarant,aver about 60-70 dollars a head--cheers

there is a really nice fun italian restaurant in the east village called Il Bagatto. They may be able to accomodate that many people. The prices are very reasonable as well.

if you had to do tonys or carmines, id go to carmines but i agree that there are better places in the city
