New York - Hotel Sales Tax????

We travelling from the UK, we are staying at the Rockefeller Centre Hotel at the beginning of November for 4 nights, we have booked directly with the hotel but have been quoted $ per room per night plus tax.....

does anybody know how much tax you have too pay in a hotel and what the room occupanc charge is????

NYC Hotel Taxes vary by location, and it ranges from 13-20%. It's an accumulation of New York State Sales, NYC Sales and Room Occupancy Taxes.

Since you're checking in at a hotel in Manhattan, you'll definitely get the highest tax rates. I don't understand how the taxes are applied from nyc.gov's explanation, but here's the site.
